How long can you hold the vision before you start to question and doubt? A Conversation with Hélene Barbour

How long can you hold the vision before you start to question and doubt? Would you second guess His promises?

Helene Barbour held onto a promise of God for 17 years before she saw it come to fruition.

Remember starting out in ministry? It was so joyful and exciting! You couldn’t wait to step into your calling. You were so confident that God had given you a specific assignment. But what about when it’s hard? I mean, so hard you want to hide out in Starbucks with giant earbuds in your ears so nobody will talk to you. (Come on, be honest, you’ve done that too!)

Giving up has crossed every leader’s mind, but instead of just hoping you never get to that point, SHE International is providing you with real advice from leaders who have been down that path, got the free lanyard, and come through it more determined than ever.

In this Equipping Leaders interview, we’re asking, “What does it take to persevere?”

Helene Barbour has been in ministry for a long time. She and her husband were waiting for God to fulfill His promise for revival, and after years and years of waiting, Helene had lost all hope. She concluded that she must have missed hearing the Lord.

She couldn’t have heard Him correctly. She was wrong.

In fact, she and her husband were about to quit- when Revival (finally!) came! This is so encouraging for all of us; to know that to question is human, and God is always at work, even (especially?) in the midst of our humanity.
